Honey! Yes, we all know they are responsible for that. And, bees are responsible for the pollination, and thus production, of a great many other foods we enjoy, such as apples, almonds, and SOO many more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_crop_plants_pollinated_by_bees
In this activity, campers experience bees up close and personal — holding the bees themselves, working with the hives, locating the queen bee, harvesting honey and wax, and, yes, eating the freshest Camp Augusta honey!
Campers are suited up as pictured below, and the activity is both fun and without stings for the campers in our experience. Likewise, we haven’t had campers around camp stung by bees. They’re busy pollinating! 🙂
