"I have a huge love for goats and cats and fear nothing more than giant waves." My name is Gitta and I am from a tiny village in Germany. Right now I am 24 years young and loving life. Growing up, I spent most of my time outside, strolling through the nearby fields and forests - constantly searching for new adventures. The desire for adventures has never stopped since then. And that's how I found my way to the magical Camp Augusta. This summer will be my first time at camp and I am beyond excited about what to come. I want to challenge myself as well as I really want to make the campers dream of an unforgettable summer come true. But until the time has come that I will finally be able to meet you guys, I am going to tell you a little about myself :) That's me:
I LOVE to do anything artsy and crafty. This deep love has been majorly created by my grandmother, because she was such a lovely woman, who spent a lot of her time together with me, drawing and creating, when I was a child. I am so thankful, because she began to light that spark in me, that you can experience with me a lot, whenever I am in my element whilst creating. At this time, you are probably wondering „Hmm, but what does Gitta really love to do, when she talks about creating and being creative?“. First of all, I really enjoy to get things done with the help of my hands. They are crazily important to me. Because without my hands I would not be able to knit, draw/sketch, embroider, crochet or to sew. Those are just a few of the things, that make me a really happy Gitta. I am also living for taking photos, making friendship bracelets for all my friends, decorating spaces with selfmade things and finding beauty everywhere. Thinking about us, sitting together or running around camp, creating the most wonderful and fun things you could ever imagine, makes me a really happy little fellow!
As much as I enjoy sitting down to sew for hours and hours, I also need to be active to keep my balance in life. To me there is nothing more renewing than grabbing my bike and riding through the forest. The fresh air, the smell of the forest and the endless shades of beautiful greens (yes, green is my favourite color!). If you can not imagine, what I am dreaming about right now, I will definately teach you this summer. For sure! As soon as the first snowflakes are falling in winter, I get really restless – because oft he mountains and the amazing opportunity of snowboarding, they have for us. Standing on top of a mountain is one of the most magical feelings I have ever felt. It makes me feel totally free and aware of the thousand possibilities in life. My soul just totally comes alive when I am outside.
If you really want to know me, I have to tell you that I am a huge foodie! I love to eat and I love food. When I grew up, my family always used to grow fruits and vegetables in our garden and I have always been looking forward to the months of the year when there was something to harvest. The urge of cooking with fresh ingredients helped me to discover my love for cooking from skratch. I love to create meals that are healthy and nourishing for the body. But hey, I still enjoy sweet treats with all my heart ;) I am a tea drinker and I would like to tell you a little story about my favourite tea. My favourite tea was the most amazing herbal tea you could imagine. All the ingredients, such as peppermint leafs, coltsfoot, stinging nettel and wild raspberry and blackberry leafs, just to name a few, have been handpicket by an old lady living on our street. But a few years ago, she wasn’t ablo to collect the ingredients anymore. So she taught me everything I needed to know in the first place and I started to collect the herbs and flowers and all the other ingredients myself. It has quickly become one oft he favourite things to do, because it keeps me going all spring and summer. And in addition to that, it gives pleasure to other people, what makes me very happy! By the way, if I am not enjoying nature or creating something, I am studying towards my Bachelor degree in Education. It is one of my dreams to teach about all the amazing things I am loving and living for.
MORE THINGS I LOVE: - MY FAMILY! I have two sisters and one brother – you can see the two youngest on a few of the pictures - reading my favorite books again and again ( such as Harry Potter or the Inkheart Trilogy) - typing quotes or random notes with my beloved type writer - running around barefoot - illustrations and typography - wrapping furniture into knitting (such as desk legs or my bed) - fairy lights - topknots - cuddling (both, people and animals) - the smell of fresh basil - discovering new and beautiful places - mermaids and unicorns - spending quality time with friends - saying "hello" to all the animals I happen to see
Those are just a few things about me. As soon as you arrive at camp you will get to know me a lot better. And I will get to know YOU! YEEIIIII!!! We are going to have the time of our lifes, running around, playing funny games, creating from our imagination and laughing until we have to hold our bellies. But if you need someone to talk to, I will be there as well, listening with all my heart, and helping you with whatever you are coming up with. Whoever you are, let’s count the days and get EXCITED FOR THE SUMMER!
