I come from a place called Barranquilla, Colombia, where huge mango trees grow, where carnival reigns, and where it is so hot that the chickens lay fried eggs. I have grown in the coast Caribbean Colombian, that’s why everything that involves water, sun, lake, beach, nature I will love it! This passion started due to my love for chocolate, what? Yes! When I was 6 years old my mom took me every day after school for swimming classes, hated it because I felt cold. However I stand because at the end I had a chocolate as a snack! So, I learnt how to swim and since then I have been doing some water sports for pleasure (kayaking, snorkeling and jet skiing).

I live with my parents and my two younger sisters. My family is a typical Colombian Family. My mom is a lovely woman and always is telling me advices for life. My dad is a brilliant man that always has a positive phrase for me and encouraging me to realize my goals and dreams. They have been a supporting me in every moment of my life. My two sisters are my partners in crime. I am the older one, So I always try to make the best decisions for my life, try to be better person every day in order for them to see me as a model to follow. I have a good relationship to my sisters and my parents. Sometimes there is a little quarrel but I think this is normal and we try to resolve our problems together.

I am a teacher and the main reason why I chose my career was that I would be spending most of my time with kids. My first interest in becoming a teacher began when I was in high school. In high school, everyone was required to complete social work. For mine, I chose to volunteer at the elementary school. I spent a funny time there; I was all the time playing with kids, helping them to do their homework, listening to all their funny kid’s stories, making jokes with them. I really enjoyed those months and I realize that I like kids more than adults. So, when I went to college, I decided to be a teacher, I have a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Literature.

I enjoy going to the beach, lying down in a hammock and observing how little by little the sun goes down to form a beautiful sunset. I love to feel the rain over my head because it reminds me of my childhood. I like connecting with people that truly believe that with love everything is possible. I am passionate about every activity I do and constantly learning something new from a book, a child, or anyone else around me. I want to generates many possibilities in my life and I love when people push me, motivate me, and force me to grow personally.

I can’t wait to be back at camp! Augusta is one of the coolest and most fulfilling things ever.

See you at Camp!!!
