I’m currently deep into the world of language, technology, and education. As a PhD student in the College of Education at the University of Oklahoma, I plan to design learning spaces, both digital and physical, that feel like camp: inclusive, exciting, full of adventure, and built around community and curiosity. Whether that’s in a classroom, a tech lab, or another summer under the stars, I’m here for it.
When I’m not teaching or researching, I’m likely dancing to Afrobeats, writing poetry that no one has read yet, designing silly games for my friends, or hiking to clear my head and dream a little bigger. I also organize community learning circles and conduct storytelling workshops for local youth.
Why am I thrilled to be at camp? I believe in the power of play, of community, of being silly and profound in equal measure. My goal is to make the campers I meet here feel seen, celebrated, and capable of more than they ever imagined. If they learn a new skill? Amazing. Make a lifelong friend? Even better. But if they laugh until they can’t breathe, conquer a fear, or discover something new about themselves, and for me, that’s the real magic.
I can’t wait to jump into this summer to learn from the kids, grow with them, and help build the kind of memories that turn into stories they’ll tell for years. Camp is more than just a place. It’s a feeling. And I’m so ready to help make that feeling unforgettable.
See you soon under the trees,
Eman
