Hellooo ya’ll!! My name is Diana or you may know me as Di or Di Di! I’m so excited to dive back into a 6th summer with ya’ll underneath the stars!!

I’ve decided if Harry Potter can have 7 books about his life, I might as well pitch the idea of 7 books about my life.. so here it goes.. 🙂

Diana Goldberg and the Beloved Book (kinda like a Sorcerer’s Stone.. right?)

Mr. and Mrs. Goldberg lived at 390 Repton Road and they lived a perfectly normal life until… they had TWINS!!! 🙂

hehe.

Diana and her twin sister Laura were born in Chicago , Illinois on August 24th, 1990! They came home to a little red house just west of Chicago in a town called Riverside! Soon, they would go between the house in Riverside with their Mom and to a new house in Oak Park with their Dad. 🙂

Her family growing up consisted of four parents, 2 sister, 1 half brother, and 2 step siblings. 🙂

She loves her family dearly and always felt very lucky to have two houses of family members

At age 11, she found out she was a wizard and enrolled in Hogwarts!! She wishes…. but at age 4, she found out she was a good reader and enrolled in pre school! At age 5, she knew exactly what she would be when she grew up … A TEACHER! She would teach people how to read!! Which is pretty much just as special as magic she thinks 🙂

Book 2- Diana Goldberg and the closet of soccer balls (chamber of secrets)

other than playing with books at age 5, she also started playing soccer and spent most of her younger years playing some sort of team sport : soccer or softball! She’d play around in the park with her Dad and loved getting to run around as much as possible!

She fell in love with baseball at age 7 when she went to her first professional white sox game with her Dad

She also started voice lessons, piano lessons, and trumpet lessons in those years 🙂 She loved music and playing outside as much as possible 🙂

Book 3: Diana Goldberg and the philosophy of yes she can! (prisoner of azkaban)

When high school rolled around, she was so excited to do as much as possible. she said yes I can to almost everything she tried.

She did musicals, soccer, softball , tennis, jazz band, marching band, choir, and more!! She still kept up her love of reading and had a great mentor english teacher, Mr. Forberg. 🙂

She kept following my childhood dream and when she went off to college, she majored in secondary English Education! She was ready to really begin her journey to becoming a teacher!

Book 4- Diana Goldberg and the goals of a fiery education! (Goblet of Fire )

When she was 17, she started college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison! She was officially a badger ! 🙂 She loved getting to read Shakespeare and Audre Lorde, and Bell hooks and lots of great philosophers, poets, and writers in her English classes!

She kept up her love of theater by joining a comedy improv team! She also started running half marathons with her older sister at this time.

And she went abroad for the first time to Ecuador!!

Just like Harry, who got to know international students from the other wizarding worlds in his fourth book, she got to know Ecuadorians and other internationals in her fourth adventure as well! 🙂

She lived there for a summer and got to live life without running water or electricity! the stars guided us every night 🙂

She started camp the summer she was a junior in college.. we’ll describe that in the next book! 🙂

Book 5- Diana Goldberg and the Order of the Phoenix (same)

So on July 4th, 2011 , Diana Goldberg was ordered to watch her first Fire Phoenix 🙂 🙂

It was her first summer at camp Augusta! and oh boy was it magical!! She was a counselor in Oak Village and she was in love with this new place!! From staff training , to village embers, to days at the Yuba, she had never felt so attached to a home away from home. She was in love and knew her journey would change because of this place’s impact on her heart.

She went back to Wisconsin the next year and started her student teaching. Her favorite placement was a school for teen Moms. She learned so much from them.

Then in spring of 2013, she graduated from Madison and began her next adventure.

Book 6- Diana Goldberg and the heartbeating win! (half blood prince)

On July 30th, 2013, with her heart beating loudly in her chest, she backed out of the driveway at 390 repton and headed towards California!

It was official, she wasn’t going back to Hogwarts, I mean Madison , anymore. She was headed to the bay area of California where she would be starting her dream job of being an English teacher!!

She found a home in Redwood City, CA and began working at a charter school in Hayward, CA. 🙂 It was unreal. She was so close to camp she could almost smell it 🙂 She dove in with an open heart and started teaching a leadership and literacy class. 🙂 She started the schools’ drama club that year with some students and began running Gay Straight Alliance as well. She would spend her days exploring California on hiking trails 🙂

Book 7- DIana Goldberg and the Dream filled Hallways (deathly hallows)

Diana was sure someone would pinch her and she would wake up from this dream. A few years later,and she is currently finishing up her 3rd year of teaching. She now resides in Oakland , CA.. and spends her days hoping to help students fulfill their dreams 🙂

She has now directed two plays at her school “A Midsummer night’s dream” and “Our Town” and is in charge of the Acapella group on campus as well 🙂

It is truly a dream to spend the school year teaching and the summers playing in the forest at camp.

In her free time, you can still find her reading, hiking, and recently, doing the WOD at her crossfit gym 🙂 She loves finding new camping spots and trails to explore on the weekends.

She finished her 5th summer at camp augusta last summer and after four years of counseling in Oak Village, she was a co-leader of CIRCLE with Xylem last summer. It was truly one of the greatest experiences of her life.

She feels so incredibly lucky to come back for a 6th summer and to join the CIRCLE crew again with an old oakie, Mega, at her side 🙂
