Dat Le Viet

My name is Dat Le Viet, and I am from Vietnam. In the last 10 years, I have been working in creative education and social innovation, including co-founding the first social innovation incubator in Vietnam (HATCH! Ventures) and franchising a creative education program (Arkki) from Finland to Vietnam, Thailand, and other ASEAN countries. In between, I also work at different governmental and non-governmental agencies promoting social innovation and eco-holistic solutions for different marginalized communities in Asia and Africa. I also worked in different summer camps in the U.S. or in Asia.

A group of children and adults gather indoors around a man wearing glasses and a green apron, who is holding a large white sheet, possibly leading an activity or workshop.
A man with face paint and a striped shirt smiles while holding a large green water gun, chasing another person in swim trunks at an outdoor camp area surrounded by trees and cabins.
A large group of smiling children and one adult sit outdoors in a field, surrounded by harvested corn. The adult in front holds a wooden bowl and laughs, while children around him also smile and pose for the camera.

I came to Augusta this year for the first time during a journey of unlearning and relearning about myself, creative education, and social innovation around the world. I love Augusta’s intentionality and philosophies, and how it can manifest through a beautifully designed system and community into wish, wonder, surprise, and magic for children – which, to me, is at the core of our shared human experience, and thus at the heart of education.
