Matching

Hi there, Randy here.  No one meets all the metrics on the secret page, including me.  Here are some areas where I am not a perfect fit myself.

  • I get tired, even exhausted, and need extra sleep a couple times a week.
  • I get frustrated with the flat hierarchy, and the sometimes slow process of consensus.
  • When I look around at the values and actions of many staff, I’m very accepting, but also scratch my head and wonder.
  • A few times in the summer, I want time to myself, without bunches of people around, and that is anti-social.  I love spending time in community, mostly. 🙂
  • Sometimes I’ll eat an entire bar of dark chocolate — because I want to, and because I’m tired.
  • I enjoy being outside and camping, but I don’t really want to go camping for the full summer every summer.
  • I’m not a fan of long bus rides
  • Challenging children remain challenging
  • In college, my first year I got a C average GPA.
  • I rack my brain for creative ideas, year after year, and sometimes I don’t come up with anything good
  • Once in a while, I’ll sleep a couple hours less in order to get other things done
  • I think our lake is gross, and swimming in it, especially later in the season, is, to me, yucky.
  • I’d prefer Augusta had all two-week sessions, or, even better, three sessions that were three weeks long each.  No such camp exists in California, though, as the culture doesn’t support such a structure.
  • I don’t take days off very often, and never during the summer, which is unbalanced.
  • There are 65+ staff.  To properly visit with everyone during the summer would take a few weeks, and leave little time for playing with the campers or role responsibilities.  I wish the connections could continue from hiring and training, and they tend not to.

Okay, your turn. 🙂   Of all the items on the secret page, share with me in the areas  where you are not a solid fit.
