Hey everyone! My name is Mariya (you might know me as Mar), but feel free to call me whatever you want. I am so excited to be a JC at Camp Augusta this summer! I grew up in the Bay Area and spent the first 15 years of my life enjoying being in the outdoors, participating in musical theater, traveling, and, most importantly, spending my summers at Augusta! For the last three years, I lived in Abu Dhabi in the UAE and explored the other side of the world.
I am a self-proclaimed daredevil and I love to do anything adventurous in the outdoors. My favorite things are anything that involves water or climbing (tree climbing was my favorite clinic). I love to ski in the winter and go scuba-diving and wakeboarding in the summer. In Abu Dhabi, I experienced a whole new kind of summer in the desert where it would reach 120 degrees every day! After camp, I am ready to finally experience a true winter—which is convenient because I will be attending college in freezing cold New Hampshire at Dartmouth College.
In college, I want to study Anthropology and explore so many new cultures while working with issues of human rights around the world. I would also love to study something to do with music.
My favorite kind of music to listen to is hands down anything musical theater. I first stepped on stage in kindergarten and haven’t stepped off since. I can’t wait to test out my acting chops at camp this year and plan to spend a lot of time in the costume closet. Other than theater you will always hear me singing along to Taylor Swift or Queen, and I am always looking for music recommendations so feel free to send some my way!
