Katie Ashton

HEYYY to all of my new friends, my Oakiedokies, my newbies and lovelies!

My name is Katie which is pronounced ‘Kayytehh’ or ‘Katie at the party’, whichever you prefer. Here I am back for my second summer at the wonderfully crazy and magical world of Augusta.

For all of those who don’t know me quite yet, here are a few things that may be of interest;

I grew up in a rainy town close to Manchester in the North of England. It’s a quiet town and not a lot happens there, and so being able to travel and explore new places is so enriching, liberating and exciting for me.

I have a degree in English Literature and reading and writing poetry is something I do often. I am interested in getting into more spoken word and gaining the confidence to share it with all of you.

My best friend in the entire world is my sister Lucy who is wonderful and adorable and super funny, and leaving her behind is one of the hardest parts of being at camp. I have the most loving family and even though I miss them when I am far away, I love sharing all of my stories and adventures with them.

During my time away from camp last year, I travelled to and lived in Australia for a few months exploring a new culture and meeting lots of new people and seeing some of the most beautiful places. I haven’t quite grasped the accent yet, but I’m working on it ‘G’dayyy Mate!’ I also spent time in the islands of Thailand snorkeling with Octopi, went to the hustling and bustling streets of Nanjing in China and took a short trip to the Netherlands.

I am currently attempting to learn Swedish, have taken up embroidery and I can now play the Ukulele, and I’m excited to learn a lot more new and exciting things during the summer. I’m also excited to take up my role of felting fairy again this year, fling you into the air on tiny swing and sing some more songs around the camp fire.

I cannot wait to get back to my second home where I left my heart last summer. Oak Village I hope you’re ready for more craziness, messiness, special wake-ups, more tears, laughter and love.

I’m so so excited to meet you all and see all of you returners in the wood chips very soon.

Sending lots of Oakie love

xxxxxx
