Joseph

Hello, my name is Joseph but most people call me JT or Joe, I am 21 years old and this will be my first time working at camp. I study Marketing, advertisement and public relations at University in Birmingham, England. I care about it as my dream is to one day open my own public relations firm here in the UK. My future plans include travelling to each continent in the world (only 2 more to go!) and teach rugby in the pacific islands, I also want to learn a second language as most of my family can speak Italian or Polish.

At university I am a member of the Rugby union first team, I also play football (soccer), power-lift, box and am a member of the marketing society. My greatest achievements far is raising over £1000 by climbing mount snowdon with my father. I am looking forward to working at camp Augusta as I want to inspire and help children grow and develop into better people, I also want to work here to make a real impact and help these children unplug and connect with both themselves and each other.

Aside from being the oldest of 6 kids, I have a fair amount of experience with children from acting as a scout leader helping younger groups of scouts and cubs with numerous outdoor activities to being a junior rugby and football (soccer) coach helping to teach younger children the importance of dedication and teamwork. I hope from the camp experience that the children will have a fresh and more positive outlook and mindset of the world, one not so full of social media and peer pressure and worries but of enjoying everyday. From me I would like the campers to also find a newfound sense of perseverance and dedication while also remaining light hearted and compassionate to others in the face of adversity.

In terms of what is special and magical about me, I would like to say my sense of humour (though that is up for debate according to my little brothers) and my fun go get it attitude. The thing that I am most looking forward to at camp Augusta is helping foster a sense of community and creating real lasting bonds and friendships between not only the campers but everyone there. A question you could ask me is ‘what are you most looking forward to at camp?’
