Delaney

Hello Hello! I am so excited to begin my first year at Camp Augusta! I go by Delaney. Some of my friends call me Del, but I respond to pretty much anything. I am a camp kid through and through. I spent my summers at a camp in Massachusetts, and I loved every minute of it. It was through camp that I found my love for the outdoors. Being a city kid, the wilderness was a whole different world than the one I was used to.

My friend and I cracking up about my ‘dough baby’ while trekking through the Grand Tetons.

I call Boston my home. I am currently in university for speech-language pathology. I hope to become a speech therapist after graduating and work with kids. Through my university, I work at the local preschools with Jumpstart, a national language and literacy program. My favorite part of the week is going to read with the kiddos, although fingerpainting is a close second. I am also on my school’s debate team for medical ethics. Every year, the BioEthics Bowl brings together various universities to discuss the current ethical dilemmas in the field of healthcare and health science. I love meeting with the different teams because it is always so interesting to hear other people’s perspectives on such complex topics. It’s so much fun!

Here’s me with my favorite book of all time: East of Eden. I love all things John Steinbeck! This clearly makes me an easy person to buy gifts for.

Here’s my team representing Worcester State. Go Lancers!

Besides nerding out, I also love to read, hike, and listen to music. I got a record player for my birthday, so I just started collecting records. If there is a thrift store, flea market, or garage sale within a 10-mile radius, I will be found rifling through the vinyls. If I am not busy hunting for records or reading, then I am 99.5% likely hanging out with my pup, Finny. He is my bff and the world’s best cuddler.

Words cannot even express how pumped I am for this summer. The bonfires, stargazing, team chants- I’m in love with it all. I can’t wait to meet everyone and make some memories. Adventure awaits!!

My sister and I at the Cliffs of Moher when we went back home to Ireland. The wind was so bad that day that people were walking backwards and even crawling to avoid getting swept off. It was insane!!

Here’s me absolutely cheesing with my screaming mandrake. I got to go to the Harry Potter Studios in London when I studied abroad, and as you can see here, I was wicked excited.
