Asa

HELLO AUGUSTA FRIENDS!!!!

My name is  A s a  (a hebrew name pronounced: ace-uh)

I love facts, riddles, & anecdotes, so here are 5 about me:

Number 1: I was born and raised in Chico, California (not too far from Augustan borders) but for four years, I called Los Angeles home as I attended university. For the last 7+ months, however, I have lived in Piedmont! (Bay Area)

Below is one of my very best friends, you probably recognize her! Shell & I were lucky enough to work together in the kitchen for the last four years, she taught me so much about who I am today. We love to dance, cook, and sing along with the Dixie Chicks!

To the left of that are photos with some other wonderful camp friends ♡

Number 2: Last year I graduated from university with my Bachelor’s Degree and may pursue a Master’s Degree in Social Work. One day, I hope to develop programs and work with companies to ensure that they are inclusive, ethically ahead of their time, and environmentally minded.

On a completely different path of passion, I would love to attend Pastry School and become a classically trained, professional chef. Bread has been pretty much the same for a millennia, how cool is that? I love bread.

Number 3: I am a Camp Augusta Alumnus! I was a proud member of Cedar Village for 5 years and after a couple years exploring elsewhere, I was grateful to return to this magical place for the summer and have been back for another 5 summers! I work in the kitchen for the most part, but I’ve been a counselor, I teach clinics, and I’ve been involved with CIRCLE in previous summers. Ask me more about my time at camp when we meet this summer.

Number 4: I am an artist. I specialize in two things, first being digital art and design. I create things like posters, cards, and other printed things. I love to collect work from other artist so I can observe different styles and learn from them. It all started with coloring as a kid, and learning about new art styles while at camp. I also love the art of food! Food can be full of beautiful color, design, not to mention flavor. Creating in the kitchen is my favorite form of art, especially when joined by friends!

Number 5: I love the outdoors. Other than my camping experiences with Augusta, I have spent my whole life in places like Tahoe, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Dana Point, and even on the coast of British Columbia in Canada. Once, I spent 10 days & 9 nights in Yosemite National Park with only my trustee boots and a backpack!! 12 friends and I hiked 40 miles throughout the Ansel Adams Wilderness as we learned about each other and about how beautiful Earth is. I love seeing the stars at night, smelling the trees in the day, and swimming in the water to cool off after a long hike. (I am 4th from the right in the photo below)

So… there’s a little bit about me and a little of what makes me who I am, I hope you can learn more as we explore the wish, wonder, and surprises to come this summer! I am honored to serve on the kitchen team for you as we create delicious meals and introduce you to new flavors from our beautiful kitchen!

Until then, stay rad friends. Happy Eating.
