All you need to know about me is in my socks.
Yes, you read that right- socks are the message.
My socks will tell you…
1. How I’m feeling
2. What I’m expecting from the day
3. What the weather will be like
Let’s start with the basics. I have 3 drawers of socks at home. I brought 1 drawer with me to camp. And the most important thing to know…My socks are always mismatched.
What do my mismatched socks say about me?
That I’m messy, lazy, disorganized, or forgetful? Noooo! Quite the opposite, actually.
If I find two matching socks, I will spend the extra 5 minutes to look for another pattern. Why do I put in the extra effort to mismatch my socks? Because I have 3 drawers of AWESOME socks. I can’t possibly pick 1 pattern to show off, no. I need to present my best socks every day, and every combination.
If you see me wearing matching socks, know that this is a lazy day for me. I may not be feeling well. It’d be great to bring me a cup of tea or give a temple massage on days like these.
So,what can my socks tell you about my mood? More importantly, how do my socks predict the weather?
Fuzzy socks- I’m feeling cozy today. Warm, snug and content. It’s cold outside but that’s not stopping me!
Wool socks- its freezing, there’s snow on the ground, and the wind is blowing. I’m optimistic about spending my day outside!
Ankle socks- I want to move and groove! I have lots of energy and will accept your offer to go for a run, hike, climb. It’s likely a beautiful day, hot. These socks won’t be on for long-as soon as they’re sweaty it’s barefoot time
Crew length socks (thin)- today I’m feeling like your average girl. I got some errands to run, books to read, friends to see, dogs to pet, and I’ll be dancing by nightfall. These is my “let’s do the day” socks. It’s a moderate feeling- not too hot or cold, just right to go out and get stuff done.
Knee socks- I’m feeling like a golfer goober who wants to DANCE! Give me a long hardwood floor, some tunes and I’ll be sliding everywhere. There is no point to knee high socks except for kicks and giggles. I am feeling bold today. Shorts with knee socks say “look at me! There’s no rhyme or reason here, let’s boogie”
Toe socks- You might’ve seen me in toe socks 5 years ago.
Holiday socks- I specifically like to wear socks that are not in season. Do I wanna build a snowman with hula girls and sea turtles on my feet? Yes. Santa Claus celebrates St. Patrick’s Day too- he only works 1 day a year. Red and pink hearts on thanksgiving? That’s because I love family gatherings.
Bring your craziest and silliest socks to camp this year and let’s mix it up!!
