Hello! My name is Katie! and I am spending my first summer in the beautiful crazy world of Camp Augusta as an Oak counselor! I travelled far and wide, all the way from Manchester in the UK to be here. I feel blessed to be spending four months in glorious weather conditions surrounded by beautiful landscapes and amazing people!
This is my first time in California and only my second time ever in the USA. I absolutely love the people, the culture and I especially like to try to speak in my American accent!
I spend much of my time reading novels and writing poetry and last year I graduated from University with a degree in English Literature.
I have a deep passion for music which is strongly held throughout my family and so I enjoy singing (all the time) and playing guitar!
My experience with children comes from spending time in Tanzania, Africa, where volunteered as an English teacher. This experience opened my eyes to how insightful and creative children are, and I developed a passion for being around children. This summer I get to spend every week having fun with, creating with and learning from kids and I can’t think of anything I would rather be doing!
I am super excited to learn and teach some new things like aerial silks, felting and lots and lots of exciting activities that Augusta offers!
The most difficult part of summer will be leaving my sister Lucy for 4 months! She is my best friend in the entire world, and not seeing her for so long will definitely be a challenge.
I like to describe myself as a positive individual. Life holds many challenges that come in many different forms and I am determined to take them on, and be the best of myself that I can be!
I am looking forward to a crazy, messy and silly summer filled with love, happiness and amazing memories and friendships that will last a life time.
