Jeremy Jones

Howdy Howdy! My name is Jeremy Jones but I get called JJ, Jay, Jez… Say a word that starts with a J
and I’ll probably look over. I’m from the Jersey in the Channel Islands, A small group of islands just
next to France that probably cover less space than your commute to work in the morning! It’s
surrounded by some amazing beaches and some of the best surf (If not a bit cold) you’ll find! I would
love to know the amount of hours of my life I have spent walking my dog all around the north coast of
the island!
This will be my first time working in a summer camp and I am overwhelmingly excited for all the
adventures we are all going to be having this summer! This isn’t my first experience working with
young ones though, I regularly work in a secondary school helping out in the English and Performing
Arts departments. Later this year after camp I’ll be working on my Masters in Education to be a fully
fledged teacher – But don’t worry, I won’t be testing any of you – Yet!
I have worked a lot in the performance and art industry ranging from events management to the
production of shows that we toured around London and South England. I love working with highly
energetic people with ideas and love people to jump in and contribute in everything we do. I see
everything as a team project and a place like Augusta is team work through and through! We all have
to work together to have the best summer you can imagine!
I sing. I sing all the time. I’m not good, If anything I’m below average. I just love to do it! You don’t
have to be the best at something to have fun! I love lyrics! The power that can come from a few
words and a melody. It’s a form of expression that can change emotions, create emotions and
develop an understanding and create perspectives you couldn’t have even thought of before. If
anyone wants to sit around a camp fire ans sing their heart out – Fleetwood Mac to Katie Perry, count
me in! I’ll be there! I’m planning on being the camp song aficionado of Augusta 2018!
I’ve spent many years living travelling with my trusty backpack, having travelled all over Asia,
Australia, New Zealand and Europe. I can’t wait to see what the USA has in store! I’ve been over
briefly a few years back but not for this kind of extended stay and I can’t wait to get to meet some
locals and learn what life is like for the American’s of today!
I love stories and narratives and I can’t wait to hear what all the camper’s stories are. What they
want, why they want it. I find working with children one of the most inspirational things in life. They
have a world of opportunity ahead of them and I think it’s our job to help them see what’s available
and show them that they have all the tools they need to be the most fantastic people they can be!
Lets have a great summer 2018!
