Isis Terrall

Usually the first step to starting to read English is to learn the alphabet. So, to learn how to read Isis, here’s the alphabet of her life!

A – AUGUSTA. Isis has worked at Camp Augusta since 2013! In previous years, she has worked as a counselor in Manzi, a Puppet Master in the office, and an application reviewer on the Hiring Team. Some of her favorite things at camp involve Aerial Silks, climbing high up in trees, Contra dance, Capture the Flag, and creating and experiencing Wish, Wonder, and Surprise!

B – BEING OUTSIDE. Even though camping is can be intents (yes, it was meant to be spelled that way) sometimes, Isis has enjoyed spending time out in nature ever since she was a wee little one.

C – CROSSFIT. Isis loves to do it!… She promises she won’t talk about it constantly with you though, unless you want her to.

D – DANCE. One of the things that Isis loves to do most in the world. She’s tried every kind from hip-hop, jazz, folk, contemporary, tap (in the sink and other places as well), and any other kind you she can find!

E – EXCITED. Isis can be described as this, as well as enthused and ecstatic, to be coming back to Camp Augusta for her fourth summer!

F – FRANCE. As she is creating this bio, Isis is living in Strasbourg, France! She’s studying abroad there for six months, and she would be ecstatic to practice her French with you if you speak it!

G – GRATITUDE. Isis believes that gratitude can make nearly any challenge better. She is incredibly grateful for the friends and family in her life!

H – HARRY POTTER. Isis has read each Harry Potter book at least ten times. She loves these books so much that it can get Siriusly riddikulus.

I – Isis. That’s her name! Her parents named her after an Egyptian goddess.

J – JIGSAW PUZZLES. Isis’ grandpa instilled in her a love for doing jigsaw puzzles. But really, Isis likes all sorts of puzzles now. She’s still working on not going to pieces when she can’t figure one out. If you like puzzles too, ask Isis for a riddle!

K – KALE CHIPS. The happily ever after in the fairy kale of Isis’ life ends with eating these. Because they’re so delicious and nutritious at the same time, eating them makes Isis quite chipper.

L – LOVE ACTUALLY. Isis’ favorite movie!

M – MATH. Isis loves mathematics, and she is studying it in school! She hopes to one day live in a world where people love math as much as women in yogurt commercials love yogurt.

N – NEW ZEALAND. The first foreign country where Isis traveled on her own. Her experiences there helped develop her love of exploring new places and cultures!

O – OREGON. Isis was born and raised in the land of rain, and that long trail (also known as the state Oregon). Consequently, she knows little about self-service gas, using umbrellas, microwaves, and using air-conditioning even when it’s boiling hot outside. However, she knows quite a bit about flannel, the ocean, mason jars, and putting birds on things.

P – PUNS. Isis love puns, especially when they’re intended. You can find a few scattered throughout this bio. She’s just as much of a fan of cheesy and/or clever jokes.

Q – QUITTING. Some people say “never give up,” or “it’s always too soon to quit.” On the other hand, Isis thinks that there are some things in life that are worth quitting. Like playing with baby raccoons like they’re kittens. Or leaving luggage in storage lockers in random Paris alleyways. These are some examples of things that Isis has quit doing after trying them.

R – RADIO. Isis loves listening to radio shows and podcasts. She feels pretty much on the same wavelength as shows like France Inter, NPR, and Freakonomics.

S – STAR GAZING. Something Isis loves doing, especially at Camp Augusta! Fun fact: every year, Isis’ birthday falls smack dab in the middle of the Perseid meteor shower every year.

T – TEA. Whatever the season or weather, you will probably be see Isis drinking tea. She hopes to one day be able to do tea as well as the Brits.

U – UNIVERSITY. Isis attended University of Oregon, and then she transferred to Lewis & Clark College in Portland, where she is still a student! She also recently spent a semester studying abroad at the Université de Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France.

V – VESTS. An article of clothing that Isis rarely wears, because her arms like to be as toasty warm as her torso.

W – WORK. Besides working for Camp Augusta, she has been a lifeguard, a swim and dance instructor, a secretary, an arts center manager, a research and assessment assistant, a tutor, and an intern at a ski resort.

X – X-RAYS. One of Isis’ doctors once told her that she has one of the more interesting medical records that he had ever seen before because she’s had so many x-rays. Despite that, she’s only ever broken two bones. From her vast x-ray experience, Isis has found that lying to x-ray technicians is hopeless because they can see right through you.

Y – YOGURT. Do you know how much women in yogurt commercials love yogurt? Isis is like them. She loves it that much. She especially loves eating it while doing YOGA.

Z – ZIP-LINING. One of the things that Isis loves facilitating at Camp Augusta! She’s also a big fan of ZIPPERS and ZEBRAS. You can choose which “z” word to finish off the alphabet of Isis’ life!
