Greetings! I’m Charlotte and I am one of the Oak counselors this summer! I am from a small village in Surrey, England. Fun fact: the movie ‘The Holiday’ was filmed where I live. I am 22, I love colours: in nature, in clothes, in people, vibrant designs and bold artwork. I love arts and crafts and am always trying to develop my creative skills! Despite this, I love laughing, playing games, sharing stories and getting to know people on a deeper level through our experiences. Another fun fact: I have the loudest laugh at camp! Reading, along with creativity, is one of my big passions; I read a book a week and of any genre.

Music, in the words of the Red Hot Chillies, is a great communicator for me; music is an accessible way of communicating, celebrating and a source of self-expression. Unfortunately, I cannot play any musical instrument but am keen to learn if you’re keen to teach me! I also randomly burst into song, especially when those around me unknowingly say a song lyric. Anticipate spontaneous singing!

I also LOVE DOGS! NEED I SAY MORE?! I am someone who has to say hi to any and every dog I see in public. I have a dog, back in England, called Teddy who you will hear a lot about over your summer camp experience. I love taking him on road trips, long walks and making our own adventures every day.

Last December, I graduated from the University of Bath, majoring in Social Work. Throughout my degree, I have worked with a variety of children and young people from a variety of walks of life. Prior to going to university, I worked with disabled children and young people for 5 years, which was a time kin my life I will always look back on and smile. Since graduating, I have done voluntary work in rural India, where I worked in a small village working with women, young girls and farmers to ensure they were getting access to toilets, education and health in a sustainable way. Empowerment, equality and play are some of the most important values I hold and am always learning more and having so much fun along the way.

This is my first time working as a Camp Counselor and at Augusta- double whammy! I have wanted to work at a summer camp since I was 18 and coming to Augusta has felt like coming home. I am so excited to get to know all of you beautiful beings over our time together at camp, to develop strong and loving relationships and to get to know you all through fun, laughter, play and creativity!
