Greetings from Pine, Casper here!
Yes exactly like the ghost, although I‘d like to think myself even more friendly than him! You can call me Casp or attempt to pronounce my middle name, Kjældgaard, which is what I usually go by back home in Denmark, where I’m from.
I am 23 years old and cannot wait to bring out my inner child with all you campers who will be coming over the summer. This will be my first year at Camp Augusta and I cannot wait to meet all of you! Looking forward to learning things together, letting our fantasies run wild, and generally do a bunch of overall awesome activities together.
A few facts about myself: I was actually born in the States, just outside of Los Angeles in Pasadena, but moved away, when I was just a year and a half to a teeny tiny land called Denmark. Although a tiny land, Denmark is rich in history and I love to chat about our culture, especially sports and Vikings! In Denmark, I hail from the oldest city in Denmark called Ribe, which is more than 1300 years old
To add additional cultural weirdness, I have also lived in Australia for 16 months, when I was 13. I lived on the East coast near Brisbane in a small town named Cleveland. It was an absolutely amazing experience, where I, besides going to school, did all stereotypical Aussie things like playing with koalas, surfing, and getting extremely sunburnt (mainly because my hair is red…).
I love all sports, but have a special place in my heart for the ones involving any type of ball. In Denmark we play this awesome game called (European) handball, which is a HUUUGE passion of mine. I have played it since I was 3 and have also been a coach for about 8 years, so it has been a big part of my life. Other than that, I’ve played a more than a decade of soccer and have dipped my toes into a plethora of other sports over the years.
I absolutely adore working with children, and have been doing it for many years through both coaching at my local handball club as well as working as a teacher. I love interacting with children and teaching them something new, whether that is something expressive or school-related is secondary, as long as I get to be a part of the ‘ah-ha’ experience.
Travelling is another big passion of mine, and I have a goal of having visited more countries than I am years old. Currently it’s a pretty tight race, in which I’m currently in a slim lead. However, I’m sure that I’ll emerge victorious with a huge lead in the end!
I am looking majorly forward to spending my summer surrounded by amazing and awesome people (that includes you!). I look forward to spending excessive amounts of time putting on sunscreen since I’m both Danish and a redhead; a combination built for sunburns. But most importantly…I am looking forward to having a FUN-filled summer together!
