Calah Joy Frazier

Hey, Y’all! Calah Joy Frazier here from Tennessee! That is pronounced K-LAAAAAA, not CAW-laaaa or Kaaallahh, but I will also answer to C.J. or Ponyboy because I know how to “stay gold”.

I am so pleased to say that I am going to be this season’s Magickeer! Let’s get up, down, clean, muddy and creative with those Cabin Activity ideas! I can’t wait to meet you and start planning all of our adventures!

Be brave and jump! I’ll be there to catch you!

I have my B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in Theology.

I am one of 5 children, the oldest daughter.

My big, loud, funny family has an affinity for “porch selfies”. Fraziers for days!

Every summer of my childhood was spent at day camp and sleep away camp in the Appalachian mountains. I have worked as a survival teacher, children’s theater director, middle school counselor, nanny, sous chef, cruise ship director and most recently a soldier in the US Army. I have always loved camp and am so looking forward to running around in the woods with all of you this summer!

I have puns and silly jokes for days. I will often answer a question with a quote from some song, book, or movie. “Good writers write, great writers steal!” You will most likely hear me before you see me. I carry a tiny brass elephant around in my pocket for the company, his name is Edison. I say ya’ll, yonder and fixin’ to; I  understand what catheads, white lightning, apple butter, hushpuppies, cornpone, grits, red-eye gravy and ambrosia salad are; and I always remember to kick my boots off on the porch at my Mama’s house. I stopped counting all the places I’ve lived after 36 or so. I take sugar in my tea but drink my coffee black. I write poetry and draw, but mostly just for me. I collect books and am bringing a few to share. Feel free to ask me to read you a story, I always have one on me.

I once had my 1st Sgt. say to me “I have nothing but time for my soldiers.” It made me feel so taken care of as a person; what a great example of leadership. I would like to echo that for each Augustan, staff or camper, I have time for you. We only get to play this game one time, one life, let’s make the most of it.

This will be my first summer at Camp Augusta, but to quote the Beach Boys, “I’m picking up good vibrations”! I am so excited to see what magic lies in the trees of California!

***When you meet me, ask me about my favorite animals, I have 2! Or if you like silly stories, ask for a poem!***
