Astro

G’day, I’m Astro.

I like trees.

Why?  It may have something to do with having spent a good chunk of the last few years around trees, up trees, learning about trees, teaching people about trees, and using trees as tools to help people learn about themselves.  That last one has become one of the most important ones!

I started my tree-hugging career at a company called Jungle Surfing, where we ran hour-long zipline tours in Earth’s oldest surviving rainforest, The Daintree.

Here is a map of Gondwana.

It was basically my job to be a plant-geek and have bulk fun while sharing my forest home with visitors from all over the world.  Spectacular!

As luck would have it, I happened to be working with two past Augustan staff members…I think you can fill in the rest of that story…

After counselling in both Pine and Cedar, I’m back for my 3rd year at camp in the new role of…Ropes Hero… “What’s that?  Spend more time in the trees, you say? Yes please.”

I’m truly stoked to see how I can help build camp’s ropes program into something more than it’s ever been before, and to guide staff and campers alike in challenging themselves to do more and be more than they thought they might.

…the rest of the time I’ll be hammering steel at blacksmithing…and spinning poi EVERY DAY!!!

See ya in the woods!
